SPCA has a team of animal welfare scientists who carry out evidence-based research to make positive changes to the way animals are seen and treated in New Zealand. They spend a lot of time researching and learning about what animals need and want for good welfare, and work with people to raise awareness about the importance of welfare for these animals. They also write about the importance of the welfare of these animals whenever there are new laws, regulations, or plans proposed that would impact their welfare.
