Pearl

A kind member of the public brought Pearl into SPCA when they found her on the road, all alone.

Little Pearl was sick with cat flu and the team at SPCA knew she needed urgent veterinary treatment. Although SPCA's quick care helped Pearl in many ways, unfortunately her eyes had too much damage due to cat flu and therefore the best thing to do for Pearl was to remove them.

Pearl's eye surgery was a success and it allowed Pearl to make a full recovery from cat flu in her foster home.

During her time in her foster home, Pearl became fast friends with her foster sister, another blind cat called Hiwa. Anita, Hiwa's guardian, knew that both she and Hiwa could not part with Pearl and so she decided to adopt her. They have renamed her Meremere.

Anita says "Meremere is growing into a much loved cat with a humongous purr. She and Hiwa love each other to bits, they spend the day chasing each other around the house, sitting together on the balcony, and sleeping. I wake up to her purring demands for tummy rubs most mornings, and she greets us as soon as we come home. I don't really remember what our home was like without her."

We are so happy Meremere has found a home where she is loved and taken care of - we truly could not have imagined a more purrrfect pair!
